Leopard
Grace in shadow
Leopards are elusive, solitary cats, blending into trees and shadows. Their spotted coats and secretive lives make them among the hardest animals to photograph. I focus on leopards in trees — the quiet patience before a hunt, or the grace with which they descend branches.
Leopards require luck and timing. I often work in silence, waiting for a sudden movement, a fleeting glance, or the tension of a stalk. In Sabi Sands, I followed a female carrying her cub in her mouth, vanishing into thickets. In the Serengeti, a male fed on an antelope stashed high in an acacia.
